COMMON SENCE

                                  Common Sense

1 Corinthians 1 :20-25, (NIV).                                   Where are the wise? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him. God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those God has called both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Paul is talking to the church in Corinthian. This was some 2000 years ago, but still holds true today. Ask yourself the same question Paul is asking of the church. “Where are the wise?” People that do not know Jesus Christ as their personal savior have a hard time trying to understand the way of the Christian. Their common sense is based on worldly views and advice. As Christians we base our common sense on the Word of God.

Have you ever had someone ask you “What would you do or think about this?” If the person is a non-believer, try and say, “If it was me, I would pray about it and wait for the answer from the Lord”. They may look as if you have just fallen from mars or some other foreign place!  They will think you have lost your mind. Many do not know how to respond like that in this day and age.

As Christians all things should be taken before the Lord - from the very smallest things to the very large. Most of us only take the large things to Him, but if He knows when every Sparrow falls to the ground, do you not think our small problems or concerns are too small for him? {Luke 11: 9-10 sums up the way of the Christian.

Three things that go against the common sense of the World: Prayer, Waiting, and Listening to the Lord.
