Excuses Equals Escape of Responsibility

Excuses Equals Escape of Responsibility    Let us take a moment, we will be discussing why we use excuses. An excuse is just what it implies. It is used so we do not have to accept any blame or to excuse our selves from having to accept any of the responsibility for our own actions. Most excuses will have the phrase “I forgot, I was to busy, or something else came up” .Have you ever heard this phrase? “Your enemies won’t believe it and you friends don’t need it,” In actuality your friends are probably not going to believe it either, it may even cause issues involving trust. I think if we reflect on why we use an excuse we will understand that people will not believe the reason we have just given them. We all judge others by our own actions. So when we hear an excuse we automatically reflect back on why we use them ourselves. Most, if not all excuses have no foundation to be used in the first place. If we are truly honest with ourselves and others we would have to admit that what ever the situation is before us that we think we need to use an excuse. In all honesty about, it would be that what ever it was really was not that important to us. Let me give an example that last statement. If I told you that all you had to do is be at the bank at 5 pm on Monday and you would receive a check for $1000..00. I’ll bet you would be there no matter what else came up. That is because it became very important to you. But we make promises and commitments some times just to remove the obligation before us at that particular time and place. Let me ask you this, is your reputation and some one’s trust more important that a check for $1000.00 to you. Or is it just the opposite? We also make all kinds of excuses for not following the Word of our Lord and Savior because it may be inconvenient or embarrassing or even prevent us from making an extra dollar or two. What ever the reason, ask yourself “What is more important in our lives then living by the Word which the Lord has placed before us”? Now let us look at what the Word actually say’s about these types of actions. {Luke 9:59-62, Luke 14:18-24}.
